Yin Yoga is a slow and meditative form of yoga, in which the Asanas (postures) are held for a long period of time (any where between 3-5 minutes.) Most of the Asanas are practiced in either sitting or reclining position and focus on the area of the body between the chest and knees. By holding the Asanas for a long period of time during which the muscles are kept relaxed, one is able to work on the body at a deep level, affecting the meridian system and energy flow within the body. Tendons and joints are also stretched, bringing more flexibility for more Yang oriented forms of yoga, such as Ashtanga and Vinyasa Yoga Flow. No experience required – all levels welcome. Due to the nature of this type of yoga, Yin Yogis are recommended to bring warm clothing and socks to class:-)
